7 Events in Rye, Port Chester, Rye Brook to Check Out This Weekend

Port Chester homecoming game, Painter's On Location, Wainwright Healthy Living Expo, Cover the Court with Coins, and more!

1. Painter’s on Location

The Rye Arts Center Painter’s on Location “en plein air” painting event will take place Saturday, Sept. 28 throughout Rye.

This year’s paint-out has attracted 46 artists, half of which are new to the event. They will choose which scene to paint from a list of 35 picturesque Rye locations including the shore clubs, Marshlands, Jay Heritage Center, Docks, the Knapp House, Purchase Street and paint all day on Sept. 28.

Their wet work will then be auctioned that evening during a live auction at 6:15 p.m., after a reception from 5 to 6 p.m.

The public can then view the silent auction of existing works by participating artists in the Gallery September 16-28, during weekdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

2. Weezie D Client Appreciation Day

Saturday, Sept. 28, the Purchase Street shop will host a day of complimentary pampering from 2 to 5 p.m. with Eco-Fin Hand treatments by The Nail Concierge, hair styling sessions by Blow & Beyond and make-up applications. Also, enjoy in store savings all day long.

3.Cardinal Timothy M. Dolan to Speak at Interfaith prayer Service

The Rye Women's Interfaith Committee is pleased to present Cardinal Timothy M. Dolan, Ph.D. as honored speaker at an Interfaith Prayer Service on Sunday, Sept. 29 at Church of the Resurrection, 910 Boston Post Road, Rye, New York.  All religious faiths are most welcome.  A reception will follow the program.  RSVP to Janet Meyers at 914-967-0447 or Janet@SHMeyers.com.  There is no fee for this program.

 

4. Wainwright Healthy Living Expo

From Wainwright House:

Join us for an afternoon showcasing
Health & Well-being experts and practitioners.
There will be interactive presentations by Fall Program Instructors,
Children's Activities, and vendor's tents 
to make this day fun as well as informative.

5. Cover the Court with Coins

Sole Ryeders & Friends’ 2nd annual children’s fundraiser, Cover the Court with Coins, will take place on Saturday September 28th, from 8am-2pm at the Rye Recreation tennis courts.  The event is a challenge to the community to cover an entire tennis court with coins.  This is a Children Helping Children event where all of the coins will be donated in support of hospitalized children, many who are being treated for cancer.  (This event was originally to be held this past May, but had to be postponed due to severe thunderstorms).

The Rye TD Bank Store is the Platinum Sponsor for this event. TD Bank in Rye is giving out coin banks to help children collect their coins. They also will also be on-site at the event to help collect the coins and then count them in their Penny Arcade.

Sole Ryeders’ encourages children to stop by the Rye Recreation Tennis Courts, Midland Avenue, anytime between 8am-2pm and place your coins on the court – or you can drop off their coins and a Sole Ryeders’ volunteer will place them on the court. (If you are unable to attend the event, bring your coins to TD Bank Rye where they will be counted via Penny Arcade).

Sole Ryeders’ volunteers will be available to:
•    Assist younger children in placing their donated coins on the tennis court
•    Help children create get well cards for children undergoing bone marrow transplants at local hospitals
•    Provide on-site baked sale goodies & raffle tickets, which are being organized by Reach Out Rye student volunteers

 

6. Westchester Jarden Triathlon

Athletes are getting their final trainings in this week in preparation for the 29th Annual Westchester Tri this Sunday, Sept. 29. The kids and super sprint is on Saturday. Find all the details about times and places here.

7. Port Chester Homecoming

The Port Chester school district homecoming game against Yonkers’ Lincoln High School is at 1:30 p.m. Saturday and the dance is at and dance is on Saturday. Good luck Rams!
