Players, coaches and families in the Port Chester Youth Baseball League kicked off the 2012 season on Saturday with the league's annual fundrasing Fun Run at Lyon Park.
The event was a way for players and families to join in a league rally before season play begins, according to Chris Swallen, a Port Chester Youth Baseball League vice president. At the Fun Run, players also picked up their uniforms from their coaches for the 2012 season.
As for the new season, the sound of “Play ball!” will be heard on April 28 as the league’s four divisions hit the field. PCYBL’s programs include T-Ball for 4-to-6-year-olds, the Rookie division for 7- and 8-year-olds, the Minors division for 9- and 10-year-olds and the Majors division for players 11 and 12 years old.
