The Top Spot:

The Port Chester Rams have been an inconsistent team to start the season. So far Jeanine Maiolini’s team has split the two games they played that were nearly two weeks apart from one another. Now the team is looking at game number three tonight at home against Briarcliff.

In the first game of the year Port Chester fell at home to . Freshman pitcher Cassie Lagana only allowed two hits in seven innings of work but the defense made several crucial errors and Pleasantville took advantage. Offensively the Rams only got a few hits in the home opener.

The second game was a completely different story for Port Chester as the Rams scored 14 in the second inning to beat up on . In this game the Ram defense tightened up and the offense clicked on all cylinders as Lagana led the way with six RBI including a home run with a bases juiced. Lily Norwotink added four RBI and Caira Murray had three including a home run.

Briarcliff comes into the game in a similar situation as they lost by 15 in their first game then scored 21 in their second and currently stand at 1-1 on the year.

Port Chester’s second game of the season showed that the Rams could be an elite team when they play up to their capabilities, but the season opener showed that even the best teams can fall if they make too many errors.

Only time will tell what Port Chester team shows up tonight.

Today’s Schedule:

In softball, Briarcliff heads to Port Chester at 4 p.m.
