Boulders Drop Seven in a Row

Fargo pulls away late in game to take sweep.

Pat Moran pitched seven strong innings for the , but it wasn't enough as Fargo-Moorhead shut out the Boulders, 4-0, Sunday at Newman Outdoor Field in Fargo, SD.

Moran allowed only one earned run on seven hits and one walk, while striking out seven, but the Redhawks were able to break a scoreless tie in the sixth.  With the bases loaded and two out, Moran hit Ryan Delgado with a pitch to drive in that run.

In the top of the eighth, Rockland had an opportunity to tie the game.  Ryan Mollica led off the frame with a double and two batters later moved to third on a Billy Alvino single.  But with runners on the corners, Qualon Millender and Chris Valencia were retired to end the threat.

Fargo then put the game away in their half of the inning, scoring three runs off a pair of Boulders relievers.  Garrett Johnson started the inning, but gave up three hits, including an RBI single to Marcos Rodriguez.  Adrian Martin was next out of the bullpen for Rockland, but Carlo Cota's RBI double made it a three-run game and Zach Penprase completed the day's scoring with a run-scoring single to make it 4-0.

Rockland has lost seven in a row and continues its American Association road trip today through Wednesday in Minnesota against the St. Paul Saints.  The Boulders return to Provident Bank Park in Pomona to take on the New Jersey Jackals Friday, Aug. 24 through Sunday, Aug. 26.
