Boulders Crushed In Iowa, 11-1

Bobby Blevins allows 10 earned runs, gives up 15 hits.

Jorge Delgado had three hits, including a three-run homer, and drove in six runs to lead the Sioux City Explorers past the , 11-1, Wednesday evening at Lewis and Clark Park in Sioux City, Iowa.

Delgado’s blast capped a four-run first inning for the Explorers, who now have won the first two games of the series. Bobby Blevins allowed 11 runs (10 earned) on 15 hits, while striking out three, in his 5.1 innings pitched for Rockland.

The Boulders scored their lone run of the game in the third inning, when Qualon Millender led off with a triple, then was knocked home on an RBI double by Landis Wilson. 

But Sioux City came right back with two runs of their own in the bottom of the frame, then added another in the fourth to make it 7-1.  The Explorers put up their second four-spot of the game in the sixth, the big blow a two-run single by Delgado, to stretch the lead out to 11-1.

Sioux City starter Jason Jarvis went eight innings to pick up the win, allowing one earned run on seven hits and two walks, while striking out four.

Rockland looks to avoid the sweep today with Gustavo Chacin on the mound.  First pitch is scheduled for 8:05 p.m. Eastern time.

Linda T., I would guess Mrs. Brakewood lives in Port Chester if she is running for the Port ChesterRead More Board of Ed. Even if the schools had to impose an austerity budget, your taxes would still go up. The state has more control in these matters than you think.

Linda, the per pupil expenditure in PC schools is the lowest in Westchester and Rockland countiesRead More ... by about $2,000 per student. The issue is two fold. First, our property values are not as strong as our neighbors, so our homes have a higher levy in order to fund the schools. Second, and more important, is that the reliance on property taxes slams moderate income communities like PC. We need for the state to move to an income tax to fund schools. Scream at your legislators ... not the BoE.

I am concerned there is not enough attention to detail in the BOE budget overall and Mrs. BrakewoodRead More comment about keeping taxes affordable ... where does she live ? they are out of control and in my opinion the money we pay for taxes we should have the best looking schools anywhere ... just my opinion
