Pet Valu Coming to Rye Ridge Shopping Center

The national retailer will move into the space long occupied by local small business Finch's Drug Store.

Out with the drugs and in with the pugs.

A Pet Valu retailer is slated to open in the new year in the Rye Ridge Shopping Center space long occupied by Finch’s Drug Store, officials say.

Pet Valu, which has more than 400 locations in the United States and Canada, signed a long-term lease for the 2,800-square-foot location, according to a press release from the leasing agency at the property.

“When the owners of Finch’s Drugs approached us with their desire to retire it provided a rare opportunity for a specialty retailer on the main level of the shopping center,” Erin Hinchey, Leasing Agent for the Rye Ridge Shopping Center, said in a press release. “Pet Valu is a great complement to our shopping experience, they have a beautiful store and provide something that we did not previously offer.”

Asked about Finch's decision to close, store owner and Port Chester native Joseph Fiscella told Patch on Tuesday that the Rye Brook business had been in his family for 68 years but that “with the way the medical field is these days, it was just time to take the offer.”
