Riding Sandy Out

Early reports of the effects of Sandy on North Main Street.

My wife and I have decided, at least for the time being, to ride out Sandy.  I will try to put up a series of brief posts with pictures of what we can see from home.

As of now, 12:10 PM on Monday, we have completed our preparations as best we can to try to prevent flooding into our basement.  We have also just past high tide.  As expected, things aren't bad for us yet.  My neighbors across the river have had some water up into their property.  This was the not so dangerous high tide.  We'll have to see what later brings.

As of about 2:00, the river had returned to the river bed. The wind is really starting to pick up now.

After several hours of zero activity (other than the occasional flickering lights), the water has now started to come back into our yard. It moved in extremely quickly! Still 3 hours to go until high tide. The water is right now surrounding our sand bags.
