Port Chester Voters Approve $85 Million School Budget

Port Chester voters passed the $85 million 2013-2014 school budget on Tuesday with 816 "yes" votes and 417 "no" votes. Read more about the budget here

Carolee Brakewood was re-elected to the Board of Education with 732 votes to James Carrier's 513 votes.

A note from Superintendent Edward A. Kliszus, Ph.D:
On behalf of the Board of Education and the entire faculty and staff of our school district, I would like to thank the Port Chester and Rye Brook residents who voted in support of our 2013-2014 school budget. As you know, this was a complex and challenging budget process.

Fortunately, due to increased state aid and concessions from our various unions, this is the first budget in at least 6 years where there are not program cuts. Similar to last year, significantly more residents came out to vote this year.  I would like to think that our efforts in keeping the public well informed of our progress was one reason that the budget passed with such a significant margin, along with the advocacy efforts of our PTA/PTO Presidents Council and their respective members.

Finally, I would like to congratulate our newly re-elected Board of Education trustee, Carolee Brakewood, who will be sworn in at the Board reorganization meeting in July.
