Port Chester Students to Perform in All-State Music Festival

Eleven students from Port Chester High School will participate in the annual New York State School Music Association’s (NYSSMA) Area All-State Music Festival, to be held at the Performing Arts Center at Purchase College, Thursday, November 7, 2013, at 8:00 PM.
High school musicians from Westchester County were selected for the Area All-State Festival based on their audition at last spring’s NYSSMA Solo Evaluation Festival. Students will attend three rehearsals in the weeks prior to their performance.
Arleen Bedoya, soprano; and Michael Bansey and Alfred DiLeo, tenors; will sing with the Area All-State Mixed Chorus. Briana Velazquez, soprano; will sing with the Area All-State Women’s Chorus. Linda Ventura is their school vocal music teacher.

Emma Manos and Emmalie Tello, clarinet; Nate Winchester, alto saxophone; Anthony Pellegrini, baritone saxophone; and Samuel Brown and Charles Simmons, trombone; were selected to perform with the Area All-State Band. Juan Solano, violin; was chosen for the Area All-State Orchestra. Their school band director is Robert Vitti.

The conductors for the various groups are as follows: Dr. Christine Howlett, Mixed Chorus; Dr. Andrea Ramsey, Women’s Chorus; Dr. Emily Threinen, Band; Margery Deutsch, Orchestra.
