Port Chester Students Among Those to Celebrate Graduation with Timothy Cardinal Dolan

A total of 750 8th grade students are scheduled to participate May 14 in the graduation mass celebrated by His Eminence Timothy Cardinal Dolan, Archbishop of New York.

For the first time as a distinct region within the Archdiocese of New York, 750 graduating 8th grade Catholic students from throughout Westchester County will participate in a graduation mass celebrated by His Eminence Timothy Cardinal Dolan, Archbishop of New York. 

Students from 24 elementary schools in Central and Southern Westchester will fill the Church of the Sacred Heart in Yonkers for the event, which is scheduled for 10 a.m. on Wednesday, May 14, according to the Archdiocese of New York. 
In addition to the students, their principals and teachers also will be in attendance at this first ever regional graduation event. Cardinal Dolan will deliver the homily at the service that will recognize the accomplishments and blessings of this year’s graduating class. 

The Central Westchester region serves 7,180 students from Pre-K3 through Grade 8 and includes children from Yonkers, White Plains, Mount Vernon, New Rochelle, Pelham, Port Chester, Larchmont, Elmsford, Tarrytown, Irvington, Rye and Hartsdale. Many of the graduating 8th graders will continue on to attend one of the 10 Catholic high schools in Westchester.
