Port Chester High School has been awarded two Metropolitan High School Theater Awards for its production of Urinetown! The Musical.  The award ceremony took place last night at Archbishop Stepinac High School in White Plains.

Elizabeth Montemurro, a PCHS freshman who played Little Sally, won her first Metro for "Outstanding Comedic Performance".  The team also won the "Outstanding Lobby Display" award.

“We are thrilled,” says PCHS teacher and Urinetown producer/director Josh Tenzer.  “In the last four years, our theater program has earned 17 nominations and 3 wins.  I look forward to many more awards.”

This year, 36 high schools from Rockland, Westchester and Bergen counties participated in the Metro Awards, sponsored by the Journal News Media Group.  The Journal News’ reporter Peter D. Kramer conducted red-carpet interviews as the thespians entered the theater for the show, which included performances from the seven schools nominated for best overall production.  The actor John Treacy Egan was the evening’s emcee.
