Port Chester H.S. Marching Band Takes First Place

Students named Best Overall in their class at Connecticut competition.

The Port Chester High School Marching Band won First Place in Class VI A with a score of 70.25 at the U.S. Bands Competition in Norwalk, CT.

The band was cited for Best Music, Best Overall Effect and Best Visual.

The band has another full weekend today and Sunday, with another competition and a clinic with a visiting college marching band.

The UMASS Minutemen band will be rehearsing on the PCHS field from 9 to 11 a.m. Sunday. They are traveling from a Saturday afternoon football game in Massachusetts to a collegiate marching band festival in Allentown, PA, on Sunday, and will be staying overnight Saturday in the PCHS gym.

During the Sunday morning hours they will practice on the field as well as tutor the members of the PCHS marching band.

If you miss the UMASS Minutemen on Sunday, you'll see them again in November. Under the direction of director Timothy Todd Anderson and associate director Thomas P. Hannum, the University of Massachusetts Minuteman Marching Band will be traveling to New York City to march in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.

The UMASS band has more then 350 members.
