Port Chester H.S. Boys Soccer Takes 1-0 Win In Regional Final

After capturing Section 1 crown, Rams defeat Maine-Endwell in Oneonta.

The Port Chester High School boys varsity soccer team was victorious again on Monday in Oneonta as it took on Maine-Endwell, the Section 4 champion, in the State Championship tournament. 

The Rams won, 1-0, in the regional final, with freshman Steven Hernandez scoring the winning goal early in the game.

The game took place at the Soccer Hall of Fame Fields at 1 p.m. The Rams and Coach John Cafaldo now move on to the state semifinals at Middletown High School, 11 a.m. on Saturday, when they will compete against Fowler High School.

The team qualified for the State Championship tournament by defeating Byram Hills, 2-1, on Thursday to win the Section One Championship. Hernandez scored the winning goal in overtime in the game played at Cross River.
