[UPDATE] Port Chester H.S. Boys Soccer Falls in State Championship Game

Rams stopped by defending champions from Jericho, 2-1.

UPDATE: Port Chester HS's boys soccer team came up short this morning in its try for the state tournament championship.

They fell to Jericho, 2-1.

The Port Chester High School boys varsity soccer team is set to play for the state championship this morning after their victory in the semi-finals of the State Tournament on Saturday in Middletown.

The game is set for 10:30 a.m. at Middletown High School in Orange County.

The Rams reached the semis after they were victorious again on Monday in Oneonta over Maine-Endwell, the Section 4 champion, in the State Championship tournament. 

The Rams won, 1-0, in the regional final, with freshman Steven Hernandez scoring the winning goal early in the game.

The Rams, led by Coach John Cafaldo, went on to the state semifinals at Middletown High School, 11 a.m. on Saturday, defeating Fowler High School, 2-1, in overtime.

Port Chester's Preston Higgins scored the winning goal. The Rams now face Jericho High School, which is trying to repeat as state champ.

The team qualified for the State Championship tournament by defeating Byram Hills, 2-1, in overtime to win the Section One Championship at Cross River.
