The Port Chester High School Tri-M Music
Honor Society will induct thirteen new members at its annual ceremony on Monday,
October 28th, 2013, 7:00 PM, in PCHS Room 229. Tri-M, an acronym for “Modern Music
Masters”, is an international music honor society for high school students,
sponsored by the National Association for Music Education (NAfME)
The thirteen student inductees are: Maria I. Barragan, Maria V. Barragan, Brittany Bunjaporte, Sonia Chandy, Marysol Chu, Alfred DiLeo, Nicole Frranceschini, Emma Manos, Elizabeth Montemurro, Colby Quinlan, Isabella Roca, Julia Vyskocil, and Timothy Vyskocil.
Port Chester’s Tri-M Chapter, #1191, was founded in 2004 by students in the Advanced Placement (AP) Music Theory class, under the sponsorship of PCHS choral director and music teacher Linda Ventura. Including the thirteen new inductees, Port Chester’s chapter has forty-five active members.
According to NAfME, Tri-M “is designed to recognize students for their academic and musical achievements, reward them for their accomplishments and service activities, and to inspire other students to excel at music and leadership.” Port Chester’s Tri-M students are active in community service, offering their assistance to District music teachers during school concerts and conducting fundraisers to assist music-related charities. Their biggest annual fundraiser is a “Battle of the Bands”; proceeds from which have been sent to help restore music facilities in New Orleans and Oklahoma following severe storm damage.
The 2013-2014 Tri-M Music Honor Society’s officers are: Katherine Wojton, President; Lanasha Robinson, Vice-President; Danielle Olonilua, Secretary; and Jonathan Henry, treasurer.
