PCHS Alums Earn College Academic Honors

Academic and athletic honors from colleges and universities attended by Port Chester and Rye Brook natives.

The following students earned academic honors at their schools for the fall 2011 semester:

  • Francesca Delio of Port Chester was named to the College of Saint Rose dean's list. Students at the Albany-based school must earn at least a 3.5 GPA for the honor.
  • Lauren Galasso of Port Chester was named to the Athletic Director's Honor Roll at Binghamton University. Galasso, a management marketing major, is on the women's track and field team.
  • Alexandra Rose Matthews of Rye Brook was named to the Miami University dean's list. Miami University students who earn a 3.5 or better GPA are eligible for the list.
  • Shannon Toal of Rye Brook was named to the Dean's List at Marist College. Toal is majoring in psychology special education at the Poughkeepsie-based private school.
  • Devan Toal of Rye Brook earned dean's list honors at Saint Joseph's University. Toal majors in elementary education.
  • Carlene Ippolito of Port Chester earned dean's list honors at SUNY Cortland. Ippolito is a junior sociology major.
  • Harlen Valenzuela and Melvin Veliz, both from Port Chester, were named to the dean's list at SUNY Albany. Students at the school must earn a GPA greater than 3.30 to qualify for the honor.
  • Nancy Horan of Port Chester was named to the fall 2011 dean's list at Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, CT. To receive this honor, a student must achieve a 3.6 GPA.
  • Anna Kamensky, a senior arts and sciences major, and Rebeca Sandhaus, a junior arts and sciences major, were named to the dean's list at the University of Delaware. Kamensky and Sandhaus are graduates of Port Chester High School.
  • Three PCHS alums were named to the dean's list at Quinnipiac University. Andrew Miloro, Stephen Miloro and Kate Pinto each earned honors with a GPA greater than 3.5.
  • Domenic Facciola and Thomas Sorbella, both of Port Chester, were named to the dean's list at Hudson Valley Community College. Facciola is enrolled in the school's academic program, while Sorbella majors in criminal justice.
  • Mathew John of Port Chester was named to the dean's list at SUNY New Paltz. John majors in philosophy.
