A ribbon-cutting ceremony on Jan. 23 will mark the opening of a health center at , the result of a partnership with Open Door Medical Centers.
It's the latest "School-Based Health Center" to open in the district, geared toward providing health care to kids who otherwise wouldn't have access to care.
From an announcement today by Open Door:
"In 2004, the Port Chester School District entered into a collaboration with Open Door Family Medical Centers resulting in the opening of school-based health centers at Edison School; JFK Math, Science and Technology Magnet School; Port Chester Middle School and Port Chester High School and in doing so, continued to build its commitment to the development of full service community schools."
The School-Based Health Centers also reduce the number of emergency room visits by children without health care, according to Open Door.
The centers "provide comprehensive accessible and high quality services that add measurable value not only to the health care delivery system but to the educational system as well."
The ribbon-cutting ceremony is scheduled for 10 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 23 at Park Avenue School.
