Go Rams! Homecoming Parade, Pep Rally Slated for Thursday

Some 900 students will parade from PCMS to the Port Chester High School grounds, ending with a pep rally at Ryan Stadium.

Middle school students will form a sea of blue and white Thursday as they march through Port Chester for a homecoming parade and pep rally.

At 1:40 p.m. sharp, the parade of students and staffers will line up, marching along Westchester Avenue, Regent Street and Neuton Avenue, where they'll end their route by arriving at Port Chester High School at 2 p.m.

From there, the blue-and-white clad students will take to the field at Ryan Stadium for a fall sports pep rally.

A second homecoming rally is scheduled for Friday night, followed by a 1:30 p.m. football kick-off at PCHS on Saturday and a dance later that night. But for Port Chester Middle School, Thursday will be a first -- the school has never had a homecoming parade, and this year could be the first in a long tradition.

“I want our middle school students to take pride in being Port Chester Rams," said Patrick Swift, principal of Port Chester Middle School.

Supporters are welcome at both pep rallies and Saturday's football game. Thursday's pep rally begins at 2 p.m.; Friday night's pep rally, featuring cheerleaders and football players in full Rams regalia, is scheduled for 8 p.m.; Saturday's kick-off is set for 1:30 p.m. All events will take place at Port Chester High School's Ryan Stadium.

The school district says the parade is on, rain or shine, so bring your umbrellas if the forecast looks iffy. The pep rally, however, will be moved indoors in case of inclement weather.
