Giants, Jets, Pats to Honor Sandy Hook School Shooting Victims

All three area National Football League teams will wear decals in memory of those who were killed in Newtown, CT.

Add the National Football League to the long list of organizations honoring the victims of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting.

The New York Giants, New York Jets and New England Patriots will all wear special decals during their games this week in memory of those who lost their lives.

The Giants tweeted a photo of the decal they will wear on their helmet when they visit the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday. Also during the game, Giants wide receiver Victor Cruz says he's going to wear the name of Sandy Hook shooting victim Jack Pinto, 6, on his cleats and and gloves.

Pinto was a fan of Cruz and the player reached out to the family to express his sympathy.

The Jets play at Tennessee in the nationally televised Monday night game.

The Jets will wear circular decals that will display the initials S.H.E.S., according to a team statement.

Head Coach Rex Ryan spoke to the events in Newtown at a press conference, saying "First off, obviously, with the tragedy in Newtown, CT, our thoughts and prayers are with all the people impacted by that tragedy."

The Patriots, who are at home this week, will send up 26 flares individually as part of their pregame ceremony on Sunday night. The Pats will also have a special decal made.

Every National Football League game will hold a moment of silence.

Linda T., I would guess Mrs. Brakewood lives in Port Chester if she is running for the Port ChesterRead More Board of Ed. Even if the schools had to impose an austerity budget, your taxes would still go up. The state has more control in these matters than you think.

Linda, the per pupil expenditure in PC schools is the lowest in Westchester and Rockland countiesRead More ... by about $2,000 per student. The issue is two fold. First, our property values are not as strong as our neighbors, so our homes have a higher levy in order to fund the schools. Second, and more important, is that the reliance on property taxes slams moderate income communities like PC. We need for the state to move to an income tax to fund schools. Scream at your legislators ... not the BoE.

I am concerned there is not enough attention to detail in the BOE budget overall and Mrs. BrakewoodRead More comment about keeping taxes affordable ... where does she live ? they are out of control and in my opinion the money we pay for taxes we should have the best looking schools anywhere ... just my opinion
