Fanelli To Be Feted At Purchase College Event

The Council of Community Services will honor Frank Fanelli, assistant superintendent of Port Chester schools.

He's a Port Chester native, he's secured more than $50 million in grants for local schools, and he's served as an educator and administrator in Port Chester for more than four decades.

Frank Fanelli, assistant superintendent of Port Chester schools, will be feted later this month at an event in Purchase College's Performing Arts Center.

Frank was born and raised in Port Chester. As a scholar and an athlete, he was
an All-American Football player, the last Port Chester graduate to earn such a
distinction. His desire to give back to his community began in High School, when
he first felt the urge to become a teacher. He began his career as a Health Teacher at the Port Chester Junior High. As a teacher, Frank inspired his students through his personal passion for health and his commitment to the holistic approach of education. In 1982 he was honored as Health Teacher of the Year for all of Westchester County. In 1994 he was named Port Chester Teacher of the Year.

In total, Frank taught for 23 years before taking on leadership roles in the school’s administration. During his tenure in the District’s administration, Frank has played a very prominent role to bring new funding and programs to our schools, which has created a wonderful culture of creativity, success, accountability and community involvement.
