It is an honor to be here today along with my fellow Board Members to express our warmest congratulations and delight as we celebrate all of you in your remarkable accomplishments and your induction into the prestigious National Honor Society.

You are being recognized for the excellence you have demonstrated in four areas:  Scholarship, Leadership, Service and Character.  These four cardinal qualities are inter-dependent and essential cornerstones to a life of honor, success and fulfillment.  You represent the best and brightest in our district.   And this afternoon, we recognize the choices and sacrifices you have made to become a role model to your peers and in the community.

This is also a time to give thanks.  And we, as members of the Board of Education, thank your parents and family members for supporting you every step of the way.  We thank your teachers and your advisor, Ed Waite, for thementoring and preparation they have given you.  And we thank your principal, Dr. Combs, for pursuing a vision of academic excellence and character education in our high school.

Soon, you will leave this room as the newest members of the National Honor Society and will add this recognition to the list of achievements you have already accumulated in your young lives.  But you are not done yet!   Continue to excel, lead the way, help others, and live a life of integrity.  We are confident that you will continue to make us proud in the years to come.
