Briarcliff Native Bobby Blevins Returns to Mound for 2012 Boulders

Pitcher also serves as a coach for Domincan College baseball team.

The have re-signed former star to pitch for the team in the 2012 season.

Blevins was selected in the 13th round of the 2007 draft by the Los Angeles Dodgers and has advanced to pitch as high as the AAA level with Albuquerque in the Pacific Coast League. One year ago, Blevins started the season as the ace of the Boulders’ staff, winning their first game ever in an 11-5 decision over the Newark Bears on May 26, 2011.

Three weeks later, in front of a then team-record crowd of 6,317, the graduate of LeMoyne College allowed just one run on three hits over eight innings to take the victory as the Boulders won their home opener over the Brockton Rox, 3-1, on June 16.

Blevins finished the 2011 season with a 6-8 record and a 3.99 earned run average. He was the workhorse of the Rockland staff, as his 131.0 innings pitched ranked second in the Can-Am League, while he led the circuit with six complete games, and his 82 strikeouts tied for eighth overall in that category.

This February, Blevins was hired as pitching coach at Dominican College in Orangeburg.

He becomes the to return to the Boulders, joining pitchers , , and , infielders , and , catcher , and outfielder .  

Players will report for training camp on May 5, and the Boulders begin the 2012 season on the road against the Quebec les Capitales on May 17, with their home opener slated for Tuesday, May 22, against the Newark Bears at Provident Bank Park in Pomona.
