BoE Meets Tonight: Community Waits for Superintendent Decision

Port Chester's Board of Education will meet tonight at Port Chester High School.

Parents, teachers and taxpayers will have their eyes on the Board of Education tonight as they wait for a delayed and much-anticipated announcement.

The Board of Education is expected to choose a new superintendent to lead the school district tonight. The new superintendent will be Port Chester's third this year, following departing former Superintendent Donald Carlisle and interim Thomas C. Elliott.

Board members say they expect a vote tonight, but in a decision that has been marked by delays, some say it's also possible the board may ask for more time to weigh its options. Unofficially, sources say the shortlist of three candidates is down to one, after Ardsley Superintendent Charles Khoury withdrew from consideration and current Port Chester Assistant Superintendent Frank Fanelli told his staff he would not receive the appointment.

That leaves Edward Kliszus, whose resume includes leadership of New Jersey's Hackensack School District.

The meeting is slated for 7:30 p.m. at Port Chester High School room 229.
