9 Port Chester H.S. Students to Perform in All-State Music Festival

Musician, singers to perform at Purchase College in November.

Nine students from Port Chester High School have been selected to perform in the annual New York State School Music Association’s (NYSSMA) Area All-State Music Festival, set for the Performing Arts Center at Purchase College.

Danielle Serrano and Rosemarie Veltri, sopranos; and Kyle Thomas and Christopher Velazquez, tenors, will sing with the Area All-State Mixed Chorus. Jillian Ferretti and Kimberly Maguire, sopranos, and Sarah Dapaah and Anne Marie Esposito, altos, will sing with the Area All-State Women’s Chorus. Linda Penney is their school vocal music teacher.

Emmalie Tello, clarinet, was selected to perform with the Area All-State Band.  Her school band director is Robert Vitti.

High school musicians from Westchester County were selected for the Area All-State Festival based on their audition at last spring’s NYSSMA Solo Evaluation Festival.  Students will attend three rehearsals in the weeks prior to their performance.

The performance is set for Thursday, Nov. 8, at 8 p.m.

The conductors for the various groups are: Dr. Christine Howlett, Mixed Chorus; Andrea Ramsey, Women’s Chorus; Dr. Elizabeth Peterson, Band; Margery Deutsch, Orchestra.
