Italian Culinary School Offers Cooking Lessons in Venice (Lunch) and Bologna (Dinner) on Same Day

A full-day Italian culinary adventure with lunch in Venice, dinner in Bologna and sight-seeing at both cities is being offered by the Culinary Institute of Bologna (CIBO). 

“The program includes hands-on cooking instruction by an English-speaking chef/instructor, early-morning snacks at bars on back streets in Venice, lunch at an exclusive private club in Venice, and dinner at a restaurant in Bologna,” said Marcello Alperti, Director of International Sales and Marketing. 

Also included is a sight-seeing trip by motor launch through Venice's Grand Canal and minor canals to the famous Rialto Seafood Market.

Lessons are not merely demonstrations. The enrollees participate fully in the food preparation in both Venice and Bologna. 

The itinerary for the one-day program follows:

Part One

  1. 7:30 a.m. Depart Bologna for Venice accompanied by chef/instructor
  2. Arrive in Venice at 9 a.m. and board private motor launch 
  3. Travel on canals. See palaces, churches, gardens and warehouses
  4. Arrive at stoned piazza of famous Rialto Seafood Market
  5. Accompany chef/instructor as he purchases ingredients for lunch
  6. Tour bacaro's for cicchetti (small plates of food), prosecco, and wine
  7. Go by motor launch to Venetian Rowing Society (private club access) 
  8. Cook and eat lunch prepared with ingredients from market. Wine included
  9. Reboard motor launch or walk in city center through Piazza San Marco

Part Two

  1. Return trip from Venice to Bologna (about 90 minutes) 
  2. Optional on return: Explore historic downtown Bologna
  3. Participate in pasta cooking lesson with English-speaking instructor
  4. Participate in preparing dinner (typical Emilia Romagna dishes)
  5. Learn how to transform flour and eggs into dishes using a rolling pin
  6. Eat four-course dinner with unlimited wine (drink responsibly)
  7. Receive participation certificate
  8. Take home CIBO cookbook and CIBO apron
