For the summer we’re running NEIGHBORS The Journey, Season 2 Chess and Gangs on the public access channels that we’re on. I was speaking to Tory of YOUR INTRO… about what I was doing and he asked if I really think it will have an effect on curbing gang violence. I told him that I sure do, which Troy found to be an impossible dream, cause no current or wannabe gang banger is gonna sit down and  look at NEIGHBORS on public access. I concurred and told him I didn't expect them too. What I’m going for is a aunt, father or mother, while surfing cable TV stopping at our show and thinking, “Chess! I bet that out of control nephew/son/daughter could get a lot of  learning Chess. Let me go buy him/her a Chess set”

Troy laughed - a little too long for my liking. I thought to myself, “Doubting Thomas”. Then he told me he was laughing because after looking at NEIGHBORS DVD’s that he’s sponsoring for Sound View Community Media, in Bridgeport he went out to a place where he remembered seeing a Chessboard and he and this guy went mind to mind across the Chessboard. He hadn't thought about engaging in Chess before looking NEIGHBORS. Then I started laughing cause he had just proved my point. Then I told him that I was thinking about calling around to the recreational departments in the places where our show is on and asking then that if possible, they put some Chess Sets out in parks and community centers. “You should do that”, Troy said and I could tell he wasn't being a doubting Thomas.
