Trustees Meet Tonight: Public Hearing On Group Homes On Agenda

Port Chester's trustees will meet tonight at the village courthouse.

Locals will get a chance to weigh in on group homes in Port Chester, and trustees are expected to pass a resolution authorizing cooperation with the Department of Justice for next year's elections.

Those are among the agenda items for tonight's Board of Trustees meeting. The meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. at the village courthouse on 350 N. Main St. Meetings are broadcast on local public access, and are available as live or on-demand streams through the village's website.

An earlier proposal for a group home on Betsy Brown Road has been temporarily withdrawn by the applicant, but village leaders say they want input ahead of the next application. Port Chester currently has 11 group homes, and the most recent application was met with resistance by taxpayers and some elected leaders, who say the village can't afford more property coming off the tax rolls.
