Trustees Meet Tonight: Donations to Community Groups, Prosecutor Vote on Agenda

Port Chester's Board of Trustees meets tonight at the village courthouse.

Trustees are expected to vote on the appointment of a new prosecutor and discuss rates for renting Crawford Park when they meet tonight at the village courthouse.

Also on the agenda: a continuation of about donating municipal resources to community groups. The issue came up after Port Chester Republicans sent an inquiry to the village clerk late last month, asking for details on municipal resources used for events like Port Chester Fest.

The request was broad, including everything from the cost of putting extra police officers and DPW staffers on the waterfront for the festival, to sponsorship costs and use of village equipment like generators.

Port Chester Republicans say those intangibles cost the village, while Democrats say they view festivals and similar events as community development.

Also on the agenda: the Port Chester Police Department will use federal grants to buy new computers and to upgrade automatic license plate reader systems; the village will enter into a new reimbursement agreement with Westchester County for prisoner transport; and trustees plan ahead with snow removal after a particularly brutal winter.
