Town Dissolution Proposal May Be Ready by 2014

This is a summary of updates from the May 21 Town Board meeting that Rye Town volunteer media coordinator Dick Hubert has submitted to the media.

Rye Town Supervisor Joe Carvin laid out a timetable that would bring a town dissolution vote to residents of the involved municipalities- Rye Town, Port Chester, Rye Brook and Rye Neck,– by Nov. 2014. If approved by voters, the dissolution would take effect by Jan. 2016. This assumes that Assemblymen Otis and Senator Latimer figure out a way to allow Rye Neck to maintain its current status and collect property taxes in what would probably be a new inter-agency municipal Tax Receiver and Assessment Office run by Rye Brook, Port Chester, and Rye Neck.
