Rye Town Bridge Repairs on Schedule, Below Budget

This is a summary of updates from the May 21 Town Board meeting that Rye Town volunteer media coordinator Dick Hubert has submitted to the media.

Superintendent of Highways John DeCrescenzo reported that the repairs to the Otter Creek Bridge are coming along on schedule and way below budget, and that the repairs to the Jefferson Avenue Bridge are also on schedule and at or below budget.

 IN-REM.
IN-REM is a legalism for the Town selling the properties of those who do not pay their property taxes. Under Town Attorney Noto there has been an aggressive effort to make sure no one is avoiding their civil financial obligations, and as a result this year he reports there are only 3 properties on this list, two of which have yet to respond. No response, no ownership, and the Town sells off the property to the highest bidder, deducting the taxes owed in the process.

    NEXT MEETING IN RYE NECK
The next monthly Town Meeting will be held at 8:00PM on Tuesday, June 18, 8:00 PM, in the Rye Neck High School. This is not just to allow Rye Neck citizens to attend a meeting with ease, but to turn over the Town’s one and only meeting room to the Board of Assessment Review, which will be hearing valuation complaints that evening in the Town Meeting Room in Port Chester.
