Rye Brook Officials Give Reckson Last Chance

Tired of continuously adjourning a fourth public hearing on Reckson Operating Partnership L. P.’s application for a special permit and amended site plan to build an ice arena at 1100 King Street, The Rye Brook Board of Trustees set a final hearing date of Nov. 12 at its Board meeting last night.  This is the third adjournment that Reckson requested on this hearing.

“As many of you know, this has been an interesting application,” Mayor Paul Rosentberg said. The proposal has drawn strong opposition from neighbors at the Doral Greens and BelleFair communities. At the last public hearing held in May, the board asked Reckson for more information on traffic, safety and environmental impact, for which they are still waiting.

“By the time we get to October meeting, five months will have gone by,“ Rosenberg said.

Reckson had asked for the hearing be adjourned until Oct. 22 but, after a board member and the village attorney suggested giving Reckson notice that the board decided this will be the last adjournment, they extended the adjournment to Nov. 12. They also decided that all requested materials be due back to the village by Oct. 25. There was no representative from Reckson present at the meeting.

Also at the Aug. 19 meeting, the Board adjourned another applicant’s public hearing on a proposed amended site plan application by Rye King Associates, LLC for new signs at a property located at 1100 King Street until their requested date of Sept. 26.
