The school district has also been busy cleaning up from the storm, which brought down trees at schools. At John F. Kennedy Elementary, the school's roof was damaged by a large tree that hit the building.

Kliszus said one or two classrooms in the school may be unavailable temporarily because of the damage.

"Contractors have already inspected the damage to ensure quick repairs," Kliszus said.

He noted that the district has moved its cold storage from its buildings to Port Chester Middle School for refrigeration.

Schools in the district have been closed all week and are closed today. At about 2 p.m., the district announced that classes will also be closed on Friday.
