Port Chester Schools Reach 3-Year Contract Deal with CSEA Members

Union, school board approve pact with 1 percent annual pay increases.

The Port Chester school district and its clerical and support staff workers who are part of the CSEA have reached a new, three-year contract.

A pact that goes into effect July 1, calls for about 150 CSEA members to receive 1 percent annual pay raises for 2013, 2014 and 2015.

Port Chester CSEA president Marianne Albertell said the new contract was overwhelmingly approved by the members of her union. Among the workers covered by the contract are clerical staff members, custodians, cleaners and groundsworkers.

Schools superintendent Edward Kliszus said savings achieved through contract negotiations with Port Chester teachers, administrators and CSEA members have significantly helped the district in its efforts to reduce costs and slow the growth of expenses as much as possible.

The school board ratified the new contract on Thursday.
