Port Chester Planning Commission Continues Discussions on Capitol Theatre

Discussion also planned on proposed Popeye's restaurant on Boston Post Road.

Members of the Port Chester Planning Commission are set tonight to continue discussions on proposed changes at The Capitol Theatre, and begin review of a proposal to open a Popeye's restaurant on Boston Post Road.

The commission is set to meet at the Port Chester Village Court, 350 N. Main St., at 7 p.m.

Peter Shapiro and his Capitol Enterprises is seeking approval for an expansion of the theater's operation in a space adjacent to the theater on Westchester Avenue that is already used for access and for providing access to handicap-compliant bathrooms. The proposal calls for installing a bar area and for increasing the capacity of the theater from 1,835 to 2,205.

The project is at the final site plan stage.

Among the new items up for discussion tonight is a proposal to renovate an existing, but vacant food service business site at 275 Boston Post Road to open a Popeye's franchise restaurant. The restaurant would include a drive-through servivce area.

Also up for discussion:

- 139 S. Main St.: Application by Luis Perez and Torosan Realty for the conversion of an existing building into a new restaurant.

- 26 Putnam Ave.: Application by Artemios Makrakis and Anthony Tirone for continued use of an existing sign and graphics shop on the second floor and approval for a laudromat on the first floor.

- 110 N. Main St.: Liborio and Rosa Castillo seek approval to raise the roof to provide habitable space.

- 400 Westchester Ave.: The Carver Center seeks approval to construct a rear handicap-accessible entrance with a canopy and fence, and to replace playground equipment at the rear of the building.

- 110 Midland Ave.: DCH/Dent Wizzard seeks approval for installation of a self-contained spray booth within open warehouse space.

- 7 Willow St.: Barton Properties New York and John Colangelo seek to open a nightclub at the site, which was formerly used as a nightclub.

- 104 N. Main St.: 100-104 Nort Main Street Corp./Edwater Group - Michiel Boender seek approval to reconfigure an existing takeout restaurant and expand its kitchen and dining room into existing adjacent tenant spaces. The project would renovate the basement for auxiliary use to the restaurant on the first floor, and include a new sprinkler system in the entire building.

- 36 Midland Ave.: Wu/Lighthouse Portfolio/Angelo Corva seek the installation of sectional overhead doors and the relocation of three parking spaces.
