Patch Is Collecting Questions for Obama and Romney During the Next Presidential Debate

If you have a question for the candidates, submit it in the comments section below and it could be asked during the televised Oct. 16 Town Hall Presidential Debate.

If last Wednesday’s presidential debate left you with more questions than answers, here’s your chance for the presidential candidates to address the issues that most matter to you.

The next presidential debate will be a town hall meeting format at Hofstra University in Long Island, where voters will ask President Obama and Mitt Romney about domestic and foreign policy.

Patch is asking you, our readers, to participate by submitting questions for the candidates.

All you have to do is post your question in the comments section below and we’ll send it to the Commission on Presidential Debates. The Commission is partnering with Patch's parent company Aol, along with Google and Yahoo, to take questions from web users across the country.

Don’t wait until Nov. 6 to have a say in this year’s election. Share your thoughts in the comments!

Harvey, if you want birth control pills you should pay for them. if you want a sex change operation then YOU should pay for it. If you want to kill your unborn child, then you should CERTAINLY pay for it. Tax payers should not be footing the bill.
Francis T McVetty October 9, 2012 at 02:04 pm
@ BR Cannon. You write" This system in which we provide a social safety net is what helped you acquire your assets in the first place." How do you know that Mr Kliner used those "safety nets" ? How he acquired his "wealth", is his business. Maybe he did build it. The safety nets will always be there, well maybe not if we as a country go bankrupt.
Francis T McVetty October 9, 2012 at 02:08 pm
@Josephine, the question [To Romney, will you or will you not support legislation infringing on a woman's right to choose? This is a yes or no question.] is not a simple yes or no . It is like the question " have you stopped beating your wife " ?
As far as gun sales in the country, unless you suspend or eliminate the second amendment that won't happen. Obama is currently working on that. He doesn't much care for the constitution, he says that is getting in the way of his agenda.
BR Cannon October 9, 2012 at 02:26 pm
You're saying it's more incompetent than the previous administration that had 4-5 months of increasingly specific and dire warnings from our intelligence agencies that a terrorist attack was coming from Osama bin Laden and that there were screwballs attending flight classes in Arizona? You mean it's more incompetent than that one, which ignored all those warnings? How quickly we forget. Drama queen.

Once again the presidential election comes down to the evil of two lessers. This question is for both spokes-models: Why should I vote on a national level when both parties are bought and paid for by the same corporations, banks, and big money?
BR Cannon October 9, 2012 at 03:35 pm
It's a known fact that Republican operatives within the Obama White House lied to the President about what happened in Libya to make it appear that there is a problem with getting a clear message of what happened out to the American people. It is also known that Romney and company supplied funding to the Al Qaeda terrorists in Libya to kill Ambassador Stevens to specifically make President Obama look bad. The Republicans are responsible.
Billy October 9, 2012 at 04:06 pm
thanks for the laugh, I needed that this morning.
BTB October 9, 2012 at 04:23 pm
So what I keep reading here is that none of us can trust people in our government. It doesn't matter which side they are on. They all lie. They all get rich. They all have their own personal agendas. I'm old and except the fact we're in trouble and it will never change.
"But a Constitution of Government once changed from Freedom, can never be restored. Liberty, once lost, is lost forever. - John Adams, July 17, 1775" It's my grandkid's future I worry about. All I can wish for each of you is that you have a blessed day.

Since when did women NOT have the right to reproduce? And when Bush 1 , Bush2 and Reagan were president, were there no "reproductive" rights?
BR Cannon October 9, 2012 at 06:29 pm
Jenga, if you continue to copy my user ID to make fake posts on my behalf, I will be happy to do the same. :) Clearly you are an idiot who has no integrity at all.

Ms. Rugg ... CTW & Big Bird got over 1 million in stimulus money to create jobs. Remember that? Well, CTW created 1.5 jobs with their stimulus money. That's one job and half of another.
Btw, why doesn't Big Bird pay his own way? He has income up there with the best of them. Why do we need to help him?
Aidan October 9, 2012 at 08:13 pm
"The budget should be balanced; the Treasury should be refilled; public debt should be reduced; the arrogance of officialdom should be tempered and controlled, and the assistance to foreign lands should be curtailed lest Rome become bankrupt.
People must again learn to work; instead of living on public assistance." Cicero - 55 BC To both candidates: Is Cicero correct?
Bill October 9, 2012 at 08:34 pm
That is not true. They are paid for by different corporations.
Chris Clement October 9, 2012 at 10:06 pm
I've read some ridiculous posts on various forums, but the following post (above) is, IMO, utterly insane "It is also known that Romney and company supplied funding to the Al Qaeda terrorists in Libya to kill Ambassador Stevens to specifically make President Obama look bad. The Republicans are responsible."
The poster's presumption could also suggest that Republicans caused Hurricane Katrina, the horrific terrorist acts of 9/11, and all other catastrophies over the past decades.
Francis T McVetty October 9, 2012 at 10:40 pm
Chris it is all Bush's fault.
Tyler Durden October 9, 2012 at 10:56 pm
If you see the Buddha in the road kill him.

"It is also known that Romney and company supplied funding to the Al Qaeda terrorists in Libya to kill Ambassador Stevens to specifically make President Obama look bad. The Republicans are responsible."
Okay. If you say so. No problem. Just stay cool. Want some water?

BOTH Bushes .. be fair.

I love all the interaction. I have personal opinions which sometimes I find out are flawed. I sure as hell don't have the answers to all of life's problems nor will I ever believe that any of you do either. Many of you have enlightened me to views I never would have considered or ever will consider accepting.
I may disagree with some folks at times, but, I sure wouldn't want to see harm come to any of you for our differences in views, and, As far back as I can remember, the promises all these politicians have made has never changed nor have they many been fulfilled. The platform(s) always been about jobs, economy, foreign affairs, race, and on and on. There never has been a solution to all these problems and there never will be. Still, we must keep trying. The country and the world keeps changing. Hell, my biggest concern today is that I don't fall down again and hurt myself. And, if I do fall down, neither of these candidates or any other elected official really cares less. The real fact is, they don't know or care about me, my kids, my grandkids, or even you for that matter. Who's fault are all these problems the country faces…. pick whomever you'd like. With all that said, at the end of my day, I am the only one who will decide if I had a good day. And… today, my day has been beautiful.
Jack Doyle October 10, 2012 at 08:23 pm
President Obama, whay are you not in favor of developing the Keystone Pipeline when we are importing so much of our energy from the Middle East OPEC nations and paying for it with both blood and treasure? Would not the development of domestic energy resources reduce our military expenditures abroad and create jobs here at home?
Carla redHouston October 10, 2012 at 09:20 pm
How specifically will you close the loop holes in the income tax laws so that the corporate world and those making over $250,000 a year, will be paying a fair share of taxes?
Ross Revira October 10, 2012 at 10:07 pm
President Obama what is the "fair share" amount or percentage of taxes? Do the 50% who pay no federal withholding tax paying their "fair share"?
Mike October 10, 2012 at 10:54 pm
Mr. President
Can you explain why your policies have led to more people on food stamps, Medicaid, and disability rather than being employed over the past 4 years. http://www.weeklystandard.com/blogs/enrollment-food-stamps-medicaid-and-disability-far-outpaces-job-growth-last-4-years_654145.html
BR Cannon October 11, 2012 at 01:20 pm
Uh, well, maybe you heard, but, uh, there was thing going on called, uh, a RECESSION? You know, you remember, like, in October 2008, the stock market crashed, and uh, like, all these people, like millions, got laid off? And, uh, well, I just found this out too, I read a newspaper, and well, geez!
BR Cannon October 11, 2012 at 01:23 pm
Chris C., for the record, that is a "fake" post, it's not mine. Someone (Jenga) created an account that copied mine in order to rouse you guys up. Jenga is a coward.
BR Cannon October 11, 2012 at 01:25 pm
That is a fake post, not mine. Just click on the user ID and you'll see that there are only two posts under that name. Jenga created it to defame me, but I don't really care if people think I wrote it or not.
Barbara Cooper October 11, 2012 at 09:33 pm
For Governor Romney: If elected, how do you plan to deal with the Republican members of congress who have signed the Grover Norquist pledge?
Armand Keim October 12, 2012 at 04:35 pm
Francis - Simpson Bowles (or something like it) would work out if the Republicans would agree to increasing taxes on the high income people - the Republicans on the Simpson Bowles committee agreed but the far right in the house won't. Too bad for the country.

I have a two part question that Romney/Ryan and Obama/Biden seem afraid of answering. Does Romney/Ryan support UN Agenda 21, and the Trans Pacific Partnership treaty with the UN that is being negotiated in secret without support of the american people and congress? I have looked everywhere for their stand on these two issues and not one e-mail or question proposed has been answered. If fact, Romney/Ryan never return e-mails when asked. The refusal to answer these and other questions about United Nation secret treaties is alarming.

Ginger, Moe and Frankie. I am privilaged to honor you and Gabby with this funraiser. I would alsoRead More like to thank my family who drive 370 miles to help me and show their love for you. So many volunteers that help. Thank you Tina, Ray and Melissa for holding down the tshirt and bookbag table. Thank you to mom and dad for holding down the refreshment table and to Julie, Carley and Jason for working the raffle table. Also to Gabby for the wonderful tattoos and for Missy for teaching our children about the dangers of drugs and alcohol. I would also like to thank Al for bringing the firetruck and all the enjoyment it brought the little ones. Now to all that came and donated, I thank you. Without you all there would be no "WALK". Love you all, Peace and Love, Laurie.

One more person, my husband Rusty, you are my glue that holds me together. Thank you for putting upRead More with me through all my craziness. Love you.
Laurie MacAllister June 18, 2013 at 09:28 pm
Sorry Pete from Memorable Moments. You know how much you are appreciated for the wonderful picturesRead More that you took the day of the "walk" words cannot describe how I appreciate you donating your time. Thank you.

Cathy, Westmed should refer to you as "Valued Customer". No person can serve two masters.Read More Every Doctor must ask themself, "Am I serving my patients or am I serving the insurance companies? Because those two are in direct financial conflict with each other. Seven minute maximum "face time" sort of answers that question, doesn't it? Today, medicine is a business...once you accept that fact you will begin to have the proper mind set to better navigate the system as a customer, not as a patient. There are exceptions.
PC Lover June 15, 2013 at 09:06 am
Craig, I may be wrong but I doubt the average doctor at Westmed is making that much money. Do youRead More have a reference for that estimate or just wishful thinking?
PC Lover June 15, 2013 at 09:13 am
Cathy..I agree wholeheartedly. Charging for parking is the epitome of arrogance. As the insuranceRead More companies squeeze Westmed they are trying to pass their overhead onto us, when what they should be doing is dropping the underpaying plans and letting the world know which insurance companies they can no longer accept due to the insurance company's corporate greed. Maybe then the reimbursement will improve. I hope they choke on it.
Craig Noor June 14, 2013 at 05:31 pm
The new picture is decent ... only about 15 percent Byram.
Silvio V. Buccieri June 14, 2013 at 06:29 pm
IF you like roof tops, then this is picture you should keep posted.
FJT June 17, 2013 at 08:43 am
The photo I was referring to was the one that showed the Byram River not the one that's up thereRead More now. The village's own website has some nice photos of Port Chester. Maybe the Patch could ask to borrow one of those, or take their own photo using the same vantage point.
Craig Noor June 13, 2013 at 05:33 pm
ps oh yeah, it's stand by, not standby

This photo is still not appropriate. Sorry, but it is more of Byram than of Port Chester. PleaseRead More choose a photo in Port Chester.
Craig Noor June 11, 2013 at 05:36 pm
Yep the left half is Byram ... As I mentioned, if you stood in Byram you could take a picture thatRead More was all Port Chester ...
Bea Conetta June 12, 2013 at 10:07 am
This picture is truly ridiculous, because it is not Port Chester. It is a photo of Byram and aRead More parking lot. As for Patch's new format, I dislike it intensely. Go back to the old format that was more interesting and not so dull. It was good to see the comments of residents and be able to give your own opinion. It wasn't broken, so why change it? I am still waiting to get some help on how to get to my past comments. Can anyone help me with that problem that arose with the new format?
niecey June 10, 2013 at 08:02 am

Yeah. It's lousy. Admit it and fix it.

Hi Silvio, Thanks for offering. We have a photo to be used. Just waiting for it to be changed by ourRead More tech team. Thank you.
Liz Giegerich (Editor) June 6, 2013 at 03:18 pm
HI everyone, I do not have the ability to change it myself right now. Patch is aware of the repeatedRead More requests for it to be changed. A new photograph will be put in place as soon as possible. My neighborhood is riddled with irresponsible renters thanks to the money hungry dirt bag landlords.Read More More burden on the schools and village services and we pay for it every year. I believe the Port Chester High School is the most beautiful High School in Westchester and all ofRead More the surrounding states. Its architecture is incomparable. It should be representative of the village and its residents. Also you might consider the Veterans Monument on Westchester Ave or Lyons Park with the flowers in bloom. And while I'm on the subject of ugly this redesign is still hideous. Nice inscrutable icon next toRead More my post - it adds nothing, but meanwhile you have removed the preview of people's comments that used to come up when you clicked on their name. Anna June 4, 2013 at 09:05 pm
I personally like this image of Main Street...although I would agree it is a sloppy photograph andRead More is not framed well. Why pretend that Port Chester is something that it isn't? It's not Rye. And I don't know why you'd rather have an image of generic sailboats as a backdrop.
