On the Roads: Resurfacing in Rye Brook Begins Thursday

If you're heading into Rye Brook, expect road closures and congestion for a while.

The Village of Rye Brook will begin road resurfacing operations beginning Thursday, Sept. 27, and will continue for approximately three weeks.

During this time, road surfaces will be milled, curbs removed and prepared for new surface and curbing. Residents should not place leaves into the roadway; please pile leaves onto the front lawn area within the right of way, placing leaves in the roadway will slow paving operations.

Resurfacing will occur on the following roads in their respective order:

Jacqueline lane from the Cul-de-sac to Rock Ridge Drive
Bobbie Lane from North Ridge Street to Rock Ridge Drive
Rock Ridge Drive from Bobbie to Cul-de-sac
Ridge Boulevard from North Ridge to Village Line
Division Street from Bowman Ave to Westchester Avenue
Roanoke from Westview Avenue to Dixon Street
Wyman Street from South Ridge Street to Dead End
Wyman Street North from Wyman Street to Cul-De-sac

During this time, residents can expect limited road closures, congestion and heavy equipment. Motorists are advised to be aware of elevated sewer drains and storm drains and to use caution when driving over such roads, reduced speeds are strongly advised as these elevated structures may damage tires.

During the installation of new pavement, roads may be open to traffic on one lane only. Motorists should not drive on newly paved surfaces unless signaled. Once paving operations are completed crews will begin to install curbing. Curbing installation will take a couple of weeks since there is a significant amount of curbs to reinstall. Topsoil and seed backfill will be completed after the curbs are installed.

Hi, Thank you both for the feedback. Aiden, were you trying to post as a board message? There mightRead More have been some kind of technical glitch that our IT team is working out. In regards to your other comments, I urge you to give it a little time to get used to. The little bell at the top right of the page has a red circle with a number in it to tell you that someone has commented or interacted with something you have done so you should be able to go there and see exactly what is going on in the places where you posted. I hope this helps!

I agree with Aidan. I would check the Patch once a day for the articles, but several times to seeRead More how a discussion progressed. With the new format, that method is virtually impossible.

Btw, I tried for twenty minutes to post this as a new thread ... I finally gave up because pageRead More after page did zero ... just spun me nowhere. A waste.

Linda T., I would guess Mrs. Brakewood lives in Port Chester if she is running for the Port ChesterRead More Board of Ed. Even if the schools had to impose an austerity budget, your taxes would still go up. The state has more control in these matters than you think.

Linda, the per pupil expenditure in PC schools is the lowest in Westchester and Rockland countiesRead More ... by about $2,000 per student. The issue is two fold. First, our property values are not as strong as our neighbors, so our homes have a higher levy in order to fund the schools. Second, and more important, is that the reliance on property taxes slams moderate income communities like PC. We need for the state to move to an income tax to fund schools. Scream at your legislators ... not the BoE.

I am concerned there is not enough attention to detail in the BOE budget overall and Mrs. BrakewoodRead More comment about keeping taxes affordable ... where does she live ? they are out of control and in my opinion the money we pay for taxes we should have the best looking schools anywhere ... just my opinion
