These new leadership positions will take effect at the next regular meeting of the BOL on January 6, 2014. The BOL Democratic caucus met Tuesday morning to decide the leadership re-organization.
“I am grateful for the support of my colleagues in the Democratic caucus, and look forward to working with the full Board to best serve all of the people of Westchester,” said Borgia. “There are important values like job creations, smart spending and protecting our environment that should guide this Board’s decision-making in the upcoming session.”
“The Democratic leadership looks forward to working and advancing the principles we believe, especially when it come to protecting children and improving the lives of all of our residents,” said Williams. “I want to thank caucus members for their confidence.
Both Borgia and Williams expressed appreciation “for the great leadership and hard work” of outgoing Majority Leader Pete Harckham (D-North Salem) and Majority Whip MaryJane Shimsky (D-Hastings-on-Hudson).
BOL Chairman, Ken Jenkins stated, “I am fully confident that the Democratic caucus will be well served by its two new leaders.”
