Mayoral Election: Port Chester Voters Head to the Polls

Voters will choose their next mayor today as Republican Bart Didden challenges incumbent Democrat Dennis Pilla.

Less than a year after casting their votes in a historic trustee race, Port Chester voters will head to the polls again today for the village's mayoral election.

The candidates:

Dennis Pilla, incumbent: Pilla, a Democrat, seeks his third term in office as mayor of Port Chester. Before leaving the business world to work full-time as Port Chester's mayor, Pilla was a management consultant and IT executive at several major corporations, including PepsiCo and TimeWarner. Pilla has served as a board member with the Port Chester-Rye Brook Public Library and as a member of the executive committee of the Port Chester - Rye Brook Chamber of Commerce.

Bart Didden, challenger: Didden, a Republican, seeks to unseat Pilla and take the helm as Port Chester's mayor. Didden won a seat on the Board of Trustees during last year's historic election after running as an independent. In January, he earned the nomination of the town Republican Party. Didden's resume includes owning his own business, USA Central Station Alarm Corp., and stints as a volunteer firefighter and planning commission member.

When are the polls open?

From 6 a.m. until 9 p.m.

Where do I vote?

The Westchester Board of Elections maintains an online database. Voters can find their polling location by entering their street address.

Voters can also call the village clerk's office at (914) 939-5202.

When will results become available?

Tallies usually begin a few minutes after 9 p.m., immediately after polls close. Poll workers will deliver the results to village hall, as well as the two restaurants where each campaign will set up camp for the evening – Didden and Republicans will convene at on Westchester Avenue, while Pilla and village Democrats will meet at on Main Street.

Port Chester Patch will report election results live from the restaurants; results are expected within an hour after polls close.
