Judge Angiolillo Seeking Re-Election to Supreme Court

Associate Justice Daniel D. Angiolillo is asking voters to let him keep his seat on the New York Appellate Division of the Supreme Court.

The 61-year-old West Harrison resident announced Monday that he is seeking re-election to the Supreme Court’s ninth Judicial District—covering Westchester, Rockland, Dutchess and Orange Counties— in November’s election. 

“I've been honored and privileged to serve,” said Angiolillo at his recent re-election campaign launch at the Wykagyl County Club in New Rochelle, according to a press release. “I grew up believing that the fair and impartial administration of justice is more important than any political consideration or party registration.”

Angiolillo and his wife Mary, have three children, Danielle, William and Patrick and parishioners of St. Patrick's Church in Armonk. 

Then Gov. George Pataki appointed Angiolillo associate justice on Nov. 17, 2006 and later designated him as a constitutional associate justice for the Second Judicial Department on Dec. 21, 2010. We was elected as justice of the Supreme Court and appointed as associate justice to the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court before that.

While serving from 1993 to 1999 as an elected Westchester County Judge, Angiolillo became the state’s first Presiding Justice of the Integrated Domestic Violence Court, working on resolving tough domestic violence, criminal, family and matrimonial cases.

“I've had the privilege of presiding over a wide range of domestic violence, criminal, family and matrimonial cases as the Presiding Justice of the Integrated Domestic Violence Court,” said Angiolillo. “More recently, I have presided over appellate and Article 81/Guardianship cases.”

Angiolillo also served as a Principal Law Clerk to Acting Supreme Court Justice Kenneth Lange and as an assistant district attorney with the Westchester County District Attorney’s Office where he prosecuted several career criminals. He is a graduate of Boston College and St. John’s University School of Law.

Angiolillo has also served in the following capacities and was awarded the following accolades:

  • Distinguished Service Award by the Columbian Lawyers Association of Westchester County
  • Distinguished Service Award by Westchester County Executive Rob Astorino 
  • Past President of the White Plains Bar Association 
  • Member of the Westchester County Criminal Justice Advisory Board 
  • Adjunct Professor of Law at Manhattanville College in Purchase from 1996-2006 
  • Taught business law at Iona College in New Rochelle from 1989-1993 

“At all times I believe that have made tough, impartial decisions that have directly and positively impacted people's lives in meaningful ways,” said Angiolillo. “I believe that I have always upheld the public's trust, and earned the confidence of the people. I would be greatly honored to continue this non-partisan judicial service for another term.”
