Hispanic Electoral College

The Hispanic Democrats of Westchester will be conducting a seminar to prepare and guide qualified and interested Hispanic candidates to run for elected office in Westchester County and the lower Hudson Valley area. 


The seminar, entitled “The Hispanic Electoral College”, will be held Saturday, Sept. 22, 2012, from 8:30am to 2:30pm at the Ossining Portuguese Club, located at 16 Waller Avenue, Ossining.

Jose Alvarado - José Alvarado was first elected county legislator for the 17th District of Southwest Yonkers in 2001, earning him the distinction of becoming Westchester’s first Hispanic/Latino county legislator.
David Carlucci - NYS Senator (D-Rockland/Orange) was elected to represent the 38th State Senate District in November 2010 at the age of 29, making him the youngest sitting New York State Senator.
Julissa Gutierrez - is the Northeast Director of Civic Engagement for the National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials (NALEO) Educational Fund; responsible for the coordination of the organization’s various community-education campaigns across the region.

Jerry H. Goldfeder - is a prominent election law specialist with over thirty years of trial and appellate experience.


Harry Kresky - is a prominent election law specialist who is currently Chair of Election Law Committee of New York County Lawyers Association.


Lailoni Navarez - Ms. Navarez currently serves in the New York State Senate Office for External Affairs (in the Office of the Senate Democratic Conference Leader John L. Sampson).


Phil Ramos - NYS Assemblyman, represents the 6th Assembly District, which includes portions of the hamlets of Brentwood, Baywood, Central Islip, Bay Shore, North Bay Shore, Islip and Islandia. He was elected to a newly created Assembly seat in 2002.


Darren Rigger - Peekskill Councilman, is the first Latino to run for federal office in the Hudson Valley (2006) and was one of the first staff members of Congressman John Hall.  He is a small business owner, fund-raising consultant, the host of a cable talk show called On Point, and an analyst for radio and newspapers. 


Manuel Quezada - current Ossining Village Trustee, architect and 20 year Ossining resident (age 35). 


William Burton - Ossining Town Supervisor, elected in 1991, has lived in Ossining since 1985 and has long been involved in the community, coaching youth sports and working for various local elected officials.
