Business Group Forum To Help Employers Understand Impact Of Affordable Health Care Ruling

July 10 forum to include experts providing advice for employers following today's decision by U.S. Supreme Court to uphold Obamacare.

With pundits and experts going over the fine details of today's U.S. Supreme Court decision, a Westchester business group said this afternoon it is hosting a forum to help local employers understand the impact of the ruling that upholds that Affordable Health Care Law.

“Employers will need to implement a response to the law over the next year,” said John Ravitz, the EVP and COO of the Business Council of Westchester.  “Our goal is to provide Business Council Members the opportunity to interface with experts who will be able to provide the guidance needed to properly implement the new rules."

Ravitz said this decision will impact businesses immediately.

"This will be uncharted territory for businesses, which is why we are holding our July 10th Rapid Response forum," Ravitz said. "Our experts will provide as many answers as possible about the new law so, hopefully, the process is more clear and simple for the Westchester business community.”

The forum at Pace University is set to include Michelle Capezza from Epstein Becker Green and Leslie Moran from the New York Health Plan Association, who will explain the employer’s responsibilities, what information they now have to supply to employees and what the ramifications could be if they do not comply.

Seats are limited for the Rapid Response event, so the group suggests employers register online today.

Hi, Thank you both for the feedback. Aiden, were you trying to post as a board message? There mightRead More have been some kind of technical glitch that our IT team is working out. In regards to your other comments, I urge you to give it a little time to get used to. The little bell at the top right of the page has a red circle with a number in it to tell you that someone has commented or interacted with something you have done so you should be able to go there and see exactly what is going on in the places where you posted. I hope this helps!

I agree with Aidan. I would check the Patch once a day for the articles, but several times to seeRead More how a discussion progressed. With the new format, that method is virtually impossible.

Btw, I tried for twenty minutes to post this as a new thread ... I finally gave up because pageRead More after page did zero ... just spun me nowhere. A waste.

Linda T., I would guess Mrs. Brakewood lives in Port Chester if she is running for the Port ChesterRead More Board of Ed. Even if the schools had to impose an austerity budget, your taxes would still go up. The state has more control in these matters than you think.

Linda, the per pupil expenditure in PC schools is the lowest in Westchester and Rockland countiesRead More ... by about $2,000 per student. The issue is two fold. First, our property values are not as strong as our neighbors, so our homes have a higher levy in order to fund the schools. Second, and more important, is that the reliance on property taxes slams moderate income communities like PC. We need for the state to move to an income tax to fund schools. Scream at your legislators ... not the BoE.

I am concerned there is not enough attention to detail in the BOE budget overall and Mrs. BrakewoodRead More comment about keeping taxes affordable ... where does she live ? they are out of control and in my opinion the money we pay for taxes we should have the best looking schools anywhere ... just my opinion
