A 36-year-old Westchester Avenue resident said that four boys attacked him after stealing his iPhone at 3:37 a.m. on Sept. 21, Police Lt. James Ladeairous said.

The man said he when he approached his front door one young boy wearing a dark hoodie came up to him and grabbed his iPhone while three others came near, police said. Then, all four started punching and kicking him, Ladeairous said. When a neighbor yelled they were calling the police, the kids ran.

Police soon saw one 14-year-old boy in a yard nearby with one sneaker on, sweating and out of breath walk in the opposite direction of the officer when he saw him.

They boy claimed his condition was because he had just been jumped by four people outside of Texas Chili, Ladeaiours said. The boy’s victim identified him as one of his attackers and police brought the young teenager to the station where he was released to his mother. He was not charged with a crime because of his age.

Ladeairous said the victim did not personally know any of the accused children.
