A White Plains man already under indictment for a burglary in Larchmont has been charged with murder in the August 2012 slaying of a 21-year-old Port Chester man on South Regent Street in Port Chester.
Westchester County District Attorney Janet DiFiore said that Jaerue Williams, 27, of 59 Old Mamaroneck Road, White Plains, was arraigned today on a three count indictment charging him with:
- One count of Murder in the Second Degree, a class “A-1” Felony
- One count of Manslaughter in the First Degree, a class “B” Violent Felony
- One count of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree, a class “C” Violent Felony
On Aug. 11, 2012, at about 12:15 am, Port Chester Police responded to 16 S. Regent after a report of a shooting. They found that 21-year-old Wilfredo Rivera of Port Chester had been taken to Greenwich (CT) Hospital by several friends. Rivera, who was shot once in the chest at close range, was pronounced dead at the hospital.
As a result of an investigation by Port Chester Police, Williams was identified as the gunman in the fatal incident. Police would not comment today on the motive for the shooting or provide additional information about the weapon used in the killing.
Williams was arrested on Aug. 18, 2012, on a parole violation stemming from 2010 felony convictions on Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the Fourth Degree in Mount Vernon and Attempted Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Third Degree in Mamaroneck Village.
He was then indicted on Sept. 26, 2012, in connection with a home burglary in Larchmont. Larchmont Police identified the Williams during the course of an investigation into a residential burglary that was reported on Aug. 12, 2012 at approximately 4:25 a.m. and was captured on video surveillance.
Williams faces a Jan. 22 hearing on the murder case. He faces a maximum sentence of 25 years to life in state prison on the top count of the murder indictment and up to 15 years in state prison on the burglary charge.

Assistant District Attorney Wendy Parra of the Superior Court Trial Division is prosecuting the murder case. Assistant District Attorney Timothy Ward, Chief of the Career Criminal Bureau, is prosecuting the burglary case.
