Unlicensed Drivers Caught in PCPD Holiday Road Check

One driver presented a Mexican passport in lieu of a valid NYS license, and another had been driving without a license since 2005.

Police towed away four cars belonging to unlicensed drivers after stopping them at a Main Street road block over the holiday weekend.

Officers operated the roadblock for several hours Friday night in front of 8 S. Main St., just west of the busy intersection with Westchester Avenue. In addition to ticketing drivers who were unlicensed, police issued violations to parents who didn't have for their young children, as well as a driver who used his Mexican passport as an ID.

At 7:50 p.m., officers stopped a 35-year-old Rye Brook woman who was driving a 2000 Toyota Celica, Lt. James Ladeairous said. In the passenger seat, a man was holding an infant in his arms, and a second infant was sitting in the back seat, unrestrained. Police ticketed the woman for driving without a license and for having the two young children in the car without child safety seats.

At 9 p.m., police stopped a 16-year-old Norwalk boy who had a "For Sale" sign affixed to the front windshield, partially obstructing his view. The teenager did not have a license and was ticketed.

At 9:10 p.m., police stopped a four-door Nissan driven by a 49-year-old Port Chester man. In the back seat, a five-year-old child was sitting between two adults without a child safety seat or a seatbelt. Police issued a violation and ticketed the Port Chester man for driving without a license; the man's license had expired and was last valid in 2005.

At 9:20 p.m., officers quickly flagged down a 23-year-old driver who ignored orders to stop at the road check despite the presence of uniformed officers, marked patrol cars and activated emergency lights. An officer issued a warning to the driver and reminded him to comply with police traffic orders, then ticketed him when the man presented a Mexican passport in lieu of a license.

Because all four drivers were without valid licenses, their cars were towed and impounded.
