Unlicensed Driver Arrested for DWI

Port Chetser police arrested an alleged drunk driver after he almost ran an off-duty Rye police officer off the road, Police Lt. James Ladeairous said. The driver, a 21-year-old Cortlandt Manor man, was driving on the wrong side of the road towards the Rye officer and then took a hard right and struck the fence that enclosed a dumpster at Sunoco on Boston Post Road, Ladeairous said.

The driver gave police a passport when they asked for a license and they discovered he had no license and smelled alcohol on his breath. He was tested and found positive for a blood alcohol content above the legal limit and charged with DWI, a misdemeanor. He also was charged with unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, and an unregistered vehicle, both infractions.
