This Ain't The Matrix: Firefighters Rescue Kids Who Roof-Hopped at Parking Deck

The children hopped a gap on the top floor of the waterfront parking structure, despite the 30-foot drop below them.

Port Chester firefighters used a ladder truck to rescue three children after the kids braved a 30-foot drop and jumped a gap on the top floor of the waterfront parking deck Monday.

A police officer on patrol at 4:30 p.m. spotted three kids on the upper deck of the three-story parking structure. The kids had hopped a gate to get into a restricted area near Marshalls, then leaped over a gap despite a drop of more than 30 feet to the ground below, Lt. James Ladeairous said.

Police told the kids to stay put, then called the Port Chester Fire Department, which responded with a ladder truck. Firefighters brought all three kids safely to the ground.
