Theft of Car Tires, Wheels Continues in Greenwich

One resident of Putnam Hill coops reported to Greenwich Police her car was left sitting atop paint cans.

The rash of the theft of tires and wheels from cars continues in the Putnam Hill coop on Milbank Avenue in Greenwich, CT.

According to Greenwich Police, a resident called police just before 8:30 a.m. Dec. 4 to report the rims and tires were stripped from her Mini Cooper that was parked in an indoor parking garage. The car was left sitting atop paint cans, said Lt. Kraig Gray.

Later in the day, another resident called police to report that a garage door opener had been stolen from their car. The theft was reported about 6:30 p.m. Dec. 4. Gray surmised the two cases may be connected.

The two incidents are similar to a series of thefts reported nearly a month ago.

On Nov. 5, a 2006 Infiniti was stripped of tail lights, headlights, front bumper and rear seat, and a full tank of gasoline was siphoned, according to the victim who spoke with Greenwich Patch. Three other cars—Toyotas and Hondas—were left on blocks and a car was stolen from the garages, police have said. Those thefts occurred after another resident reported her garage door opener stolen from her.
