[UPDATE] Arrest Made in Thanksgiving Murder

UPDATE (3 p.m. Wednesday): As the result of a joint investigation into the death of Hyde Park resident Laurie Ferguson, the New York State Police and the Town of Hyde Park Police have charged Justin Curran, 36, of Hyde Park, in connection with the murder.

Curran, of Mobile Manor Trailer Park, was found in Tampa, FL, on Tuesday by State Police and Hyde Park Police with help from the U.S. Marshalls and Florida law enforcement agencies. Police said Curran was questioned about the murder and was then charged.

Curran was awaiting arraignment in Tampa today, with extradition proceedings to follow.

Police said the investigation is continuing and ask that anyone with information about the slaying, the victim or Curran call State Police at 845-876-4049 or 845-677-7300.

The New York State Police in Rhinebeck and the Town of Hyde Park Police are conducting a joint investigation into the murder of a 67-year-old woman and they are seeking the public's help in finding her car.

Laurie B. Ferguson of Mobile Manor Home Park in the Town of Hyde Park was found dead on Thanksgiving Day in her home. The cause of death is under investigation.

State Police said they are seeking the public's assistance in locating the victim's car, which was taken from the scene of the murder. The vehicle is a 2006 Saturn Ion, four door sedan color gray, with NY registration AFD7244.

Anyone with information is requested to contact the New York State Police at 845-876-4049 or 845-677-7300.

First, our property values are not as strong as our neighbors, so our homes have a higher levy in order to fund the schools. Second, and more important, is that the reliance on property taxes slams moderate income communities like PC. We need for the state to move to an income tax to fund schools. Scream at your legislators ... not the BoE.

I am concerned there is not enough attention to detail in the BOE budget overall and Mrs. BrakewoodRead More comment about keeping taxes affordable ... where does she live ? they are out of control and in my opinion the money we pay for taxes we should have the best looking schools anywhere ... just my opinion
