Tarrytown Police: Unlicensed DWI Flees Scene

When police found a man apparently driving erratically on Benedict Avenue, he fled the scene. Albarracin had a high enough alcohol count to merit medical evaluation and no license.

When the Tarrytown police found a driver suspected to be drunk, he tried to flee the scene. When they caught up with him, not only did he show a high blood alcohol count but he didn't have a license.

On Oct. 2 at 2:33 p.m., according to the police blotter entry, a caller reported she was driving westbound on Benedict Avenue behind a car with NY plates that was going erratically, perhaps with an intoxicated driver.

The car had pulled over and the driver had exited when police arrived. Then the man apparently tried to run off. Police arrested the driver and got his car towed.

Alfonso E. Albarracin, 44, of Main Street, Tarrytown, consented to a breathalizer test which resulted in a positive reading high enough that Greenburgh paramedics were notified for evaluation. Albarracin refused medical aid.

Albarracin was charged with aggravated DWI, driving while intoxicated and unlicensed operation. He was released to a responsible person with a court date of Oct. 10.
