Stolen Car Turns Up in Port Chester; Vandals Throw a Rock Through Pharmacy Door

Police say the stolen Acura was not one of six cars that were stolen from Port Chester last month.

When they woke up and found an Acura blocking their cars in Sunday, residents at 22 Ellendale Ave. were wondering what kind of inconsiderate person would park their car across someone else's driveway.

It turns out the Acura didn't get there under its own power–when the residents called police to complain, officers arrived to find the 2007 Acura was missing its engine, steering wheel, radiator, transmission and battery, Lt. James Ladeairous said.

The car was reported stolen out of the Bronx, and was not among the half-dozen cars that had gone missing from Port Chester last month, Ladeairous said.

Port Chester police notified their counterparts at a Bronx NYPD precinct, who contacted the Acura's unlucky owner and insurance company. The driveway at 22 Ellendale Ave. was finally cleared when the car was towed at the insurance company's expense.

Open Door Pharmacy

A vandal destroyed the door at a Westchester Avenue pharmacy late Sunday night or early Sunday morning, but left the merchandise intact.

Owners of Cammarato's Economy Pharmacy told police they'd locked up at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday afternoon and returned Monday morning to open up shop at 8:50 a.m., only to find they didn't need the key–a vandal or vandals had smashed the glass front door by throwing a rock through it, police said.

The merchandise and prescription drugs in the pharmacy were untouched, and police said it appeared to be an act of vandalism and not burglary. The pharmacy's owners didn't give an estimate for the door's value.
